Endodontic retreatment may be necessary if you experience persistent discomfort, swelling or tenderness around a tooth that underwent a previous root canal, or develop an infection or abscess. The retreatment procedure is similar to the initial root canal treatment, but may take more time to replace existing fillings and thoroughly clean and reseal each canal.
